some pictures from december

December 25th, 2008

We have done a few more bits of work since the last pictures were taken, i promise i will update the images here as soon as. The bunker is now fully operational, except for a bit of rubbish to be cleared, the projector to be calibrated, and a few speakers outside of the control room to be wired up. so the Guardians can start rehearsing once again!

we have recorded a few vocals in the booth which sound so good. in the main room we have obtained a lovely red carpet thanks to Wayne and a drum kit thanks to Ross, which we have been experimenting with miking up. it seems to me that a good drum sound is all in the tuning, and less so with the miking. Anyone with any tips please hit us up…..

More pictures as soon as i get back home.

fitting out the control room

December 8th, 2008

Here are a few shots from the weekend fitting out the control room. Had a little go on the mic sunday, a good idea of whats to come. put up the last few shelves and laid the carpet in the chill out room also. looking for a tv for chill out room and any other furniture anyone has got, lamps, chairs etc. so if you can help out shout us.

we suspect the plasterboard in the main room is not thick enough so we have ordered another layer to go up on the ceiling before we start using it to rehearse. we stuck a bass amp in the room, wacked on a bit of dubstep, cranked it up then went and stood outside in the street….and it could still be heard slightly, like the stereo of a car in the distance. so we will add another layer on the weekend and see what difference that makes.

Another weekend of painting

November 23rd, 2008

Another weekend, another painting session, plus some carpentry skills from Wayne. we are nearing the event of finishing the work and will soon be able to start using the place. the new soundcard has been ordered and the last bits of soundproofing are occurring, with some niggling little bits of sound escaping the main room, but they shall be tamed. Thanks to Shaun and Tia, Lee F, Frendo and Wayne for their continued hard work this weekend.

the big paint day

November 16th, 2008

On Saturday the 15th November we held a painting day for all who were willing to help us paint the studio. it was a great success, and everybody’s assistance was appreciated, you have saved us so much hassle and given us so much pleasure in the knowledge that human beings can count on each other when it most matters. thank you all for helping us realise our plans, you should all consider yourselves a part of this studio, cosa nostra.

As well as Angie’s wonderful pictures here are some of our own taken on sunday, when we continued in our relentless painting frenzy, and bodged the toilets by painting it green. big mistake.
